Artist Biographies
Julie Delizza
Julie moved from Concord, North Carolina in 2006 to study at the College of Charleston, where she attended the Honors College and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in History with Honors, BS in Secondary Education, and minor in Dance. While at CofC Julie studied and performed with the Robert Ivey Ballet. During this time she was also chosen to perform and present choreography at dance conferences throughout South Carolina. In 2012 Julie attended the American Dance Festival in Durham, NC and landed auditions to study intensively with dancers from Pilobolus and Bill T. Jones Dance Company and perform in the Hollins University MFA Final Concert. She has taught at Ashley River Creative Arts Elementary School and Wando High School, where she is the Co-Director of the Wando Dance Company. Julie is in her fourth season dancing with Annex Dance Company and performs regularly. Over the past four years Julie has taught with Annex including two weeks as a guest artist in-residence at Endless Mountains Dance Camp and residencies throughout the Charleston County School District. Most recently, Julie spoke and performed at TEDx Charleston with Annex Dance Company and students from Memminger Elementary. Last year she won the South Carolina Dance Association’s President Award for her work involved with the organization’s bi-annual dance festival. This season she is excited to be a guest artist and choreographer for the 8th grade dancers at Charleston’s School of the Arts.
